Former Black Star of Ghana footballer and Anderlecht player, Odartey Lamptey has been in the news after his family issues went viral.
After a photo showing Odartey Lamptey enjoying life with a family of his own, the ex-footballer has been in the news. The new photos show how his three biological children have transformed.
After 21 years of marriage with Gloria, Lamptey discovered through DNA that all his three children were not his. The marriage immediately ended.
Lamptey’s 21 years marriage with Gloria hit the rock in 2013 after DNA results revealed that he was not the biological father of his three children. Odartey had gone for the DNA tests after his Gloria demanded half of all his properties.
Nevertheless, Gloria took Lamptey’s 4-bedroom house after the divorce. He lived in a rented apartment and was depressed for 9 years.
Gloria also demanded for his 7-bedroom apartment in court. Odartey Lamptey only recovered this from her in 2022. Gloria was living in the house for years before then.
According to Nkonkonsa.com, Ghanaian Award-winning ex-footballer, Odartey Lamptey disclosed that he almost used his gun when he discovered the three children he had taken care of all his life were not his.
However, patience and the grace of God prevented him from taking that action which would have landed him in prison.
Odartey said in an interview;
“When the issue happened I wanted to use my gun. It was in my Tundra but I decided I would not do anything to jeopardize my life so I did not use it. I was broken but I was very patient about it and that has led me to where I am today. I believe it was God who spoke to me and so I decided not to use my gun. It used to be in my Tundra but I decided not to touch the gun again”.
“I have my own children and family now and people even come to me to learn from how I have been able to emotionally handle it. My ordeal gave men awareness and the confidence to check the paternity of their children. Some have not been able to handle the shock but some have been able to”.

On his relationship with the children he raised with Gloria, Lamptey said his Lawyers advised him to stay away from them so he did and has not had any contact with them since the case was in court.
However, Odartey Lamptey said that he has nothing against the children because it is not their fault that things turned out the way it did and he is always ready to support them when the need be.
The ex-footballer said:
The treatment I got from the kids at a point is why I will still offer them support if need be. I have no issues with the children. I still have the names of my ex-wife’s children on my arms and the desire to support them if it becomes necessary is still in me”.
