Vegetables and fruits are natures pharmacy. Their components are the bedrocks of good health. When used appropriately, vegetables and fruits can cure, reduce or stop certain illnesses. Plant based foods, like medicinal plants contain substances that produce pharmacological effects similar to medications. But they have advantages over medications.

Some vegetable are diuretic food. They increases urine production, kidney function, and reduces edema. These diuretic foods include; celery, eggplant, melon ,watermelon, leeks and asparagus.

4: HEPATIC HELPERS:

These increase bile flow and detoxify the liver. Examples are Loquat and Cardoom.
5: MINERAL RESTORERS:

They are very rich in magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. They include Coconut, Almond, Alfalfa, Cabbage, Orange and Turnip greens.
6: HYPOLIPIDEMIC:

These are anti anemic, protect digestive linings, act as tonics and lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. They include Avocado, Beans, English walnuts, sunflower seeds and yam.
7: ANTIOXIODANTS:

They contain four powerful antioxidants which are; Vitamin C, Beta-carotene [Provitamin A], Flavonoids and Folic Acid. They help to prevent arteriosclerosis and thrombosis.
Examples are Oranges, Strawberries, Citrus fruits and Nuts.
8: ANTICARCINOGENS:

The high phytochemicals in these food stop or retard the growth of cancerous cells. Examples are; Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Orange, Lemon, Plums, Grapes and Tomatoes.
9: DIGESTIVES:

They generally aid digestion. These include: Pineapples, Papaya, Zucchini, Potatoes and Okra.
10: LAXATIVES:

They stimulate intestinal function. Examples are eggplant, Plum, Chard and Whole grain cereals.
11: ANTIANAEMICS:

These contain high quantity of Iron, Copper and other trace elements that boost blood production.
Examples are Pistachios, Lentils, Red beets, Apricots, Passion fruits, Spinach and Lamb lettuce.
