The wind.  An ill-wind the say blows nobody any good. This adage played out in Owerri, the Imo State Capital yesterday.

There was pandemonium yesterday’s night in Owerri the capital of Imo State.  This is because,  the wind left it’s abode in Saudi Arabia and entered Owerri the Imo state capital. The time was around 9pm. The day and  date were  Friday the 8th of June 2019. This was followed by a heavy rain.

The wind which an old man said was one of the fiercest since the days of his childhood took everyone unaware. Nevertheless, it  wrecked havoc in many homes and roads.

Many satellite dishes, trees, roofs, houses  electric poles were blown off at the end of the wind.

Most importantly, many roads were blocked with fallen trees. Along the beautiful Umaru Yar’Adua  Drive, trees were seen blocking access road.  However,  motorists were redirected to a freer road.

Moreover, almost all the billboards around Owerri Municipal were seen littered everywhere. Roofs of buildings were blown off. These  include parts of the roof of the new Imo state primary school under construction.  The structure is  at the demolished Ekeukwu Owerri market square.

Reportngr.com learnt that  properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

Gutters and bridges under construction were not left out. However no life was lost  as the disaster occurred in the night when people had already retired for the day.

The topic  in Owerri  has  been  ” An ill-wind blows nobody any good. There was pandemonium yesterday’s night in Owerri the capital of Imo State.           People were seen discussing the incident.  Those whose roofs were blown off  were seen fixing it.

However,  many people believed that the wind was a “just wind”. This is because 90% of the  structures it destroyed were the “ready- to -commission”  structures by the  state government.

Besides, people  were openly praising the wind. They were calling it” wind of justice” and “wind of karma”.

They believe that the wind has come to pay the state government. However, the government  has been demolishing their structures without due process.
