BABY-COUPLE TIED PREGNANT WOMAN, STEAL BABY

BABY: A husband and wife had allegedly tied a pregnant young woman to a tree with barbed wire. Then cut her stomach open  and stole  her unborn  baby from her womb.

The victim was identified as 23 years old  Mara Cristiana da Silva. Mara was  eight months pregnant.  She  died after reportedly being bound to the tree and slit open with a knife.

The suspects are Angelina Rodrigues and Roberto Gomes Da Silva.

After the alleged murder, the suspect Angelina Rodrigues allegedly arrived at a hospital with a newborn child. At the hospital, she claimed that she had just given birth.

One of Mara’s grieving relatives claimed Rodrigues  had become close to the mother to-be.  Angeina had always dreamed of having a baby girl.

She and her husband Roberto Gomes da Silva had been  arrested. The arrest was  after Mara’s body was found in woodland in southeast Brazil yesterday.

The horrific discovery was made near Joao Pinheiro.

Police say Rodrigues later confessed to getting the woman drunk before tying her to the tree. Then, cutting her baby from her womb.

The suspect, who is accused of murder.  She is   said to have claimed in her confession that her husband didn’t participate in the crime.

However, police doubt that she could have committed the act alone.

A spokesman said: “We believe that the husband and a third person took part.  But, all these will depend on a police investigation. Tests show Angelina isn’t pregnant and we believe the crime was premeditated.”

According to reports, doctors at the local Sao Lucas hospital had alerted police on Monday.  That was  after Rodrigues turned up with the newborn.

She allegedly claimed that she had just given birth.

The young mum-to-be died after reportedly being bound to a tree and cut open with a knife.

But staff became suspicious after seeing that the “agitated” 40-year-old was walking normally. Besides, she was refusing to undergo medical checks.

Mara’s aunt, Euza Ribeiro, told Brazil’s G1 website that Rodrigues grew close to her niece after discovering she was pregnant with a girl.

She claimed: “The woman always dreamed of having a baby girl, and when she saw that my niece was pregnant she began to offer help.

She lent her money to have her ultra-sound scan and the day she died had told her she was going to buy all the things that the baby needed.

Rodrigues had also allegedly moved into Mara’s home on Saturday, just three days before the mum-to-be’s body was discovered.

According to police, Mara was found tied up with barbed wire, with a cut in her stomach where the baby was apparently removed.

The child is now being cared for at the hospital in Patos de Minas.

She is reportedly being treated for a cut to her head, which is believed to be as a result of being cut from her mother’s womb.

Rodrigues also had to be hospitalised after ‘fainting’ as furious locals tried to attack her near the scene, according to local media.

The suspect had apparently been taken to the location she claimed she had last had contact with Mara by Civil Police officers.

But when locals spotted her, they tried to launch an attack. fit to
