IRAN HIGH PARLIAMENT MEMBER DIES OF CORONAVIRUS

A high Iranian parliament member has dies of coronavirus.This has made the number of deaths in Iran to be the highest across the globe after China.

The confirmed cases in Iran are now 593. While the death toll from coronavirus in the country is now 43.

Meanwhile, these confirmed cases in Iran has made it the country with the fourth-highest number of cases in the world. And the country woth the highest number of coronavirus deaths outside China.

“The death toll from coronavirus in Iran has climbed to 43 and the number of cases is now 593”. The Health Ministry said on Saturday.

According to the ministry spokesperson, nine more deaths and 205 new cases were reported across Iran over the past 24 hours.

“Most of the new cases were detected in Tehran, Golestan, Qom, Markazi, Mazandaran, and Ghilan,” Kianush Jahanpur said at a press conference.

He further said that there were many more suspected COVID-19 cases in the country. Adding that between 10% to 15% of quarantined individuals tested positive so far.

He said 100 lawmakers were also administered tests and only five of them were found to be infected.

Kianush added that 123 patients with the disease were successfully treated and discharged from hospitals across Iran.

While responding to reports from higher figures run by foreign news outlets, Kianush asserted that the ministry is only sharing confirmed and verified numbers with the public.

Presently, Iran is one of the over 50 countries which account for the almost 84,000 coronavirus cases confirmed around the world.

However, the global death toll is nearing 2,900. But China, where the outbreak originated, is the worst hit. As it has about 79,000 cases and almost 2,800 fatalities.

The World Health Organization, which last month declared the outbreak an international health emergency, raised the global risk level to “very high” on Friday.

Meanwhile, China has sent a group of experts to Iran to help combat the novel coronavirus in the country.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying announced this on Friday.
